April has flown by! It feels like the month has only just started, but nope, here comes May! This last month I took part in the OWLs Magical Readathon hosted by Bookroast, which coincided with my readalong of the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series, hosted by some excellent booktubers on the @DOSABreadalong Twitter. This month I only managed to read the books I planned on reading for the Readathon, and started one other audiobook, but all of the books I’ve read have been great!
Gemina and Obsidio by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
THIS BOOK! I loved this trilogy so much! I read Illuminae last year and enjoyed it, but didn’t pick up the second and third books straight away (for some reason). I’m so glad I finally got around to them, and I managed to read them very quickly. They kept me hooked throughout and they have such an interesting layout, that I couldn’t help but enjoy it.
Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid
This book was amazing. I loved it so much. The interview-style writing was excellent, and I loved following the lives of the characters through so many different things. I adored The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo when I read it earlier this year, so I had really high expectations for this book, and I wasn’t disappointed.
A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer
This was another excellent book. I wasn’t sure about it at first, but I really enjoyed it. It was really well-written, and I can’t wait to read the second book. This book surprised me and I’m so glad I read it after hearing so many great things about it.
Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor (Review to come)
I started this book late in the month, but I was determined to finish it before May. I managed to finish it today (1st May) whilst doing some painting. I really enjoyed this book and I can’t wait to read the final installment this month!!
Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett (Review to Come)
I started this audiobook purely because I can’t wait to watch the series that’s coming to Amazon Prime next month with some of my favourite actors in it! I’ve been really enjoying this book, and I’ve been reading it alongside other books, something I don’t normally do. It’s been fun, and has such a strange story, but in the best way! I’ve only got about 30 minutes left of the audiobook, which I’m sure I’ll be able to listen to when I’m making my tea in a bit!
OWLs Readathon experience:
This was the first month-long Readathon that I’ve taken part in and I really enjoyed it! I couldn’t take part in as much as I would have liked as I was working for the majority of the month, but I still kept up with the Twitter feed and answered the odd question! I thought this was such a fun Readathon, and I’m excited for the NEWTs now in the summer, when I’ll hopefully have a bit more time off!
I loved the different prompts for each subject, and I loved following along with everyone else’s progress and seeing which books they had chosen for the different prompts, especially if they were ‘studying’ for the same career as me!
That just about wraps up April. I had an alright reading month, and I can’t wait to read more in May. I’m sorry I’ve not posted a lot this month, but hopefully I’ll be posting more soon, especially as I’ve got a few posts in my drafts, including reviews!
What was your favourite read in April and why? Have you read anything in this wrap up? Let me know!
