N.E.W.T.S Magical Readathon TBR

This year, I took part in the O.W.L.S Readathon and thoroughly enjoyed it. Now, this August, we have the N.E.W.T.S Readathon; the more difficult exams for the older students in the Harry Potter world.

The career I chose for my studies is Magizoologist. I’ve always loved animals, and I especially love magical creatures, and would love to care for them. Fun fact: as a kid, I wanted to be a vet! In order to achieve my magical career goals, I need to obtain an O (Outstanding) in Care of Magical Creatures, and an E (Exceeds Expectation) in both Charms and Herbology.

The readathon starts on the 1st of August, and I cannot wait!

Care of Magical Creatures:

For this class, I need to obtain the highest grade, so I need to read three books.

To achieve an A, I need to read a book which starts with the letter ‘A’. For this prompt I’ve chosen An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson.

To achieve an E, I need to read a book under 300 pages. For this prompt I’ve chosen Night of Cake and Puppets by Laini Taylor. I was meant to read this in June, but I didn’t get around to it, so this seems like the perfect time to read it.

To achieve an O, I need to read a book with a bird on the cover. For this prompt I’ve chosen to reread Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White.

Charms:

For this class, I need to read two books.

To achieve an A, I need to read a book that has a gorgeous cover. For this prompt I’ve chosen The Wicked King by Holy Black.

To achieve an E, I need to read a comic/graphic novel/manga. For this prompt I’ve chosen to (finally) read The Steel Prince by V.E. Schwab.

Herbology:

For this class, I need to read two books.

To achieve an A, I need to listen to an audiobook. For this prompt I’ve chosen The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary. I’ve heard nothing but great things about this and I’m really looking forward to listening to it.

To achieve an E, I need to read a book between 350-390 pages. For this prompt I’ve chosen Red Rising by Pierce Brown.

So these are the seven books I plan on reading for the N.E.W.T.S Magical Readathon (which seems appropriate seeing as the number seven is an important number in the Harry Potter books). I’m really looking forward to reading all of these, and I’m hoping that I can complete all of the prompts over the course of the month!

Are you taking part in the Readathon in August? What’s your career goal, and what do you plan on reading? Let me know!

      1. Awesome – that’s totally fine then! The OWLs were fun, and I’m sure the NEWTs will be too! I had the Twitter notifications turned on for the Magical Readathon Twitter account, so I could be notified when reading sprints started!
