Week 3 got off to a better start than week 2!
I had a day off today and actually got to have a date day with my boyfriend for the first time in ages. We went to the cinema, did some shopping, and went out for dinner – we had a lovely day. Then we got home and I managed to finish reading An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson (finally). I rated this book 3/5 stars; it wasn’t my favourite book but it had some alright moments, I just wasn’t a big fan of the insta-love. I also started reading Night of Cake and Puppets by Laini Taylor. This is the novella between Days of Blood and Starlight and Dreams of Gods and Monsters, books I read earlier this year.
Again, today was productive. I had work all day, but I managed to finish listening to Red Rising on my lunch break. I loved this book so much, and I can’t wait to read the rest of the series soon! I managed to finish Night of Cake and Puppets this evening as well! It was such a lovely read, I loved Zuzanna in the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy, and I loved reading more about her in this novella. I then started reading The Wicked King by Holly Black.
Today marks the beginning of my week off work (yay) and I can’t wait to read all week, and go and spend the day with my friends! I started my day by cleaning my flat and listening to The Wicked King on audiobook. I’m swapping between the audiobook and the ebook, like I did with Red Rising. I’ve spent all day listening to The Wicked King, I’m really enjoying it! I’m still not Cardan’s biggest fan, but the book is still great.
Fast forward a few hours and I managed to finish The Wicked King! I enjoyed this book a lot more than The Cruel Prince and I’m so excited for Queen of Nothing to come out later this year (I think)! I also managed to read all of the first volume of The Steel Prince by Victoria Schwab in one sitting. This graphic novel was great; I loved learning more about Maxim’s life before A Darker Shade of Magic.
I started my final book of the readathon tonight: Charlotte’s Web, one of my favourite books from my childhood!
I finished my reread of Charlotte’s Web which means…I FINISHED THE NEWTS MAGICAL READATHON TODAY!!!!! I’m honestly so shocked/surprised that I’ve finished it this quickly!
I’ve really enjoyed taking part in the NEWTs this year, and the OWLs for that matter. I can’t wait to take part in both next year! I might see if I can beat my total amount of books/pages read as well!
Week 3 was definitely my week for this Readathon! I think that, because I knew I had my week off, I felt more relaxed and in more of a reading mood!
End of the week progress:
Total pages read: 1,970!!!!!
Classes passed: An A, an E, and an O in Herbology (The Flatshare, Red Rising, and Charlotte’s Web), an A and an E in Care of Magical Creatures (An Enchantment of Ravens and Night of Cake and Puppets), an A and and E in Charms (The Wicked King and The Steel Prince)
Two and a half weeks of the Readathon and I managed to read 6 books and 1 graphic novel, which I think is pretty good going. I can’t wait to read more than I expected this month. Happy August and happy reading!💖
