I saw this post over on Papertea & Bookflowers’ blog and thought it looked quite fun, definitely go and check out this lovely blog!
Do you keep a list of the books you’ve read?
Yes! I have used Goodreads for the past eight years to keep track of the books I’ve read as I find it’s the easiest way. This year I have also been keeping track in a note on my phone so that I can jot down what format I read the book in for my end of year wrap up!
If you record statistics, what statistics do you record?
I record the amount of books I’ve read on Goodreads, and then in my phone notes I’ve got a list of the genres and the formats of the books I’ve read. As I said above, this is to help me with my end of year wrap up so that I don’t have to go hunting through each book on Goodreads to check how I read them and what genre they fall into. Last year I made a pie chart and graphs about my yearly reading and I want to continue doing that this year and into the years ahead!
Do you give star ratings for books and if so, what do you score books out of and how do you come about this score?
I do. I rate my books out of 5 and it usually goes as follows:
5 stars – a book I loved, couldn’t put down, and can’t stop thinking about.
4 stars – a really good book, really enjoyed reading it.
3 stars – this book was good, had parts I liked and parts I didn’t.
2 stars – this book was okay but still had some elements that I didn’t like.
1 star – really did not enjoy this book and struggled to finish it.
Do you review books?
I try to review as many as I can, but I’m not the best at remembering to write the review straight away. Last year my goal was to review every single book that I read and I had to stop as I was reading faster than I was reviewing, and some books I didn’t have enough to say about. Now, I only review the books that I want to, the books that I have a lot to say about.
Where do you put your finished books?
Back on my bookshelf!
Do you have any other rituals for when you have finished a book?
Not really. If I want to review the book then I’ll try and write that as soon as I can, so that everything is still fresh in my mind. The only thing I do straight after finishing a book is jump onto Goodreads and mark it as ‘finished’ and give it a rating.
This was a pretty fun tag, it was quite different to any others I’ve done!😊
I either put my books back on my shelf, back to the library or on a donation pile. Some I just know right away I don’t want to keep.

Ah yeah I also find that there’s some books I know I won’t read again so donate them

It was fun to do! Aw thanks, I enjoy keeping track of what I’ve read, and I loved making the graphs in my end of year wrap up last year!

Great tag! I mainly use Goodreads to keep track of all my books. Without it, I’m sure I would buy the same book three times and never read it (lol).

Loved reading your answers! I tried to do the “review every book you read” thing as well, but I found myself overwhelmed as, like you, I was reading faster than reviewing. Now I just review books that I feel the need to share my thoughts on, and it’s worked better for me that way😊

Thanks!😊 I feel it’s best for me too to review only the books I need to share reviews on too! I’m glad this has worked out better for you!😊

Yeah I like to record genres and formats as I go as well, definitely helps with the year wrap up! (learnt my lesson after years of doing it from scratch when I get to December 😉 ) Fun tag!

Haha yep! The first year I did an end of year wrap up I spent ages going through goodreads and my blog for the books I read and ratings, this is so much easier!😅

Goodreads is so useful for keeping track of books, just recently sorted through all of my book on there and it’s helped so much!

It is! I really need to go through and sort out my tbr on there, there’s so many books on there from 8 years ago that I probably won’t read now!😅
