May Reading Wrap Up

Well it’s June already, this year is flying by! I managed to read eight books in May, which is less than April, but still quite a lot! At the start of the month I really didn’t think I would read this many books, mostly due to the fact that I participated in three readathons in April!

The first book I read in May was The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon. This book was huge but I really enjoyed it! I loved reading this book and found it really interesting. The politics of the world and the characters were really interesting and I’d highly recommend it. The size of the book is daunting but the story is well-worth it.

Next I read Heartstopper: Volume One by Alice Oseman. My lovely friend Niamh sent me a copy of this graphic novel as she loves it too and I loved reading it. This was a really sweet graphic novel and I really loved the characters. So much so that I order the second and third volumes, and read them straight away. Both Heartstopper: Volume Two and Heartstopper: Volume 3 were really fast-paced graphic novels as well, and I read each of them very quickly.

Then I read my second ever Samantha Shannon book, The Bone Season. I’ve been meaning to read this book for a really long time but just never got around to it. I really enjoyed this book and I’m so excited to read The Mime Order as part of the Make Your Myth Taker Readathon. I should have a review for The Bone Season coming soon!

The next book I read was Tilly and the Bookwanderers by Anna James. I really enjoyed this book, it was so lovely and just a really wonderful book to read. This was a book that I read as part of the Middle Grade Marvels book club, which has been really nice to participate in!

I only listened to one audiobook this month! I normally listen to quite a few in a month because I love listening to them on my way to/from work, and on my lunch breaks, but obviously this month I haven’t been doing that at all. The audiobook I listened to this month was Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty. I listened to this book in about two days and I really enjoyed it! I’d heard so much about this book before I read it and I’m so glad that I finally read it. I really want to watch the TV adaptation now too!

The last book I read this month was Good Girl, Bad Blood by Holly Jackson. This book is the sequel to A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, a book that I loved and read in a day last year. As with the first book, I couldn’t put this book down. I was so gripped by the story and I loved the layout; the interviews, the images, Pip’s notes. It was another excellent book and I couldn’t stop turning the page, I needed answers! Overall I loved this book and would highly recommend this series if you enjoy mystery books which will keep you guessing and on the edge of your seat!

This month was a good reading month! It took me two weeks to finish The Priory of the Orange Tree and I wasn’t sure if I was going to read much more, so I’m so glad I managed to read another seven books!

Have you read any of these books? What did you think? Let me know!

  1. Great job, Sarah! Reading eight books is very impressive. I read a book that has a similar title to one of yours: A Lady’s Guide to Mischief and Murder. It was a very fun read. Lovely post. Thanks for sharing 😉

  2. It’s sounds like you had a really good reading month Sarah!
A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder is on my TBR and I’m looking forward to reading it. (also I didn’t know that it had a sequel)
