22 Books I Want To Read in 2022

Well I meant to post this at the start of January…but here we are oops haha!

My physical TBR has grown ridiculously this past year, so now I need to try and read them all! I have 22 books I really want to read this year, some of which I thought I was definitely going to get to last year, but obviously didn’t.

The Once and Future Witches – I’ve heard a lot of mixed reviews for this one, but I’m still really intrigued. I’ve had this on my shelf for well over a year now, as it was an Illumicrate book back in 2020 I think, so it’s about time I picked it up!

Little Thieves – sticking with the Illumicrate books theme, this was in a recent box, and has had amazing reviews so I want to try and get to it as soon as possible. The cover of this one is also gorgeous so I can’t wait to see whether the story is as beautiful as well.

The Island Home – I had an eARC of this book, and never got around to it, so hopefully I’ll pick it up this year. I’ve really enjoyed both of Libby Page’s other books so far, so I’m excited to see what this book is about.

Under the Whispering Door – This book has had nothing but good reviews and I cannot wait to dive into it.

The Reading List – this is a book I really thought I was going to read last year, but didn’t pick up. I’m thinking of picking this one up in the next few months as I’ve heard amazing reviews.

Midnight in Everwood – I picked this one up with the intention of reading it as part of a book club last year…well you can guess how well that went! I had every intention of reading it, however I think life got in the way. Hopefully I’ll pick this one up in winter 2022 now! I’ve heard a lot of mixed reviews of this, so I’m hoping I enjoy it.

Cemetery Boys – I’ve heard so many good things about this book, and I loved Lost in the Never Woods by Aiden Thomas, so I can’t wait to read this. I reckon I’ll pick this one up around Halloween time now.

XOXO – My friend has told me this is brilliant and I’ve been on a bit of a romance kick recently, so I think I’ll be picking this up soon!

The Cat Who Saved Books – This book sounds delightful. I’m such a cat person, and obviously a book person, so this sounds right up my street.

The Bone Shard Daughter – I’ve heard nothing but great, and I mean great, things about this book. Every single review I’ve seen has been either 4 or 5 stars, and that’s so exciting!

The Ex Hex – I intended on getting this post up in January. It’s now February so that obviously hasn’t happened. I’ve since read this book and unfortunately it was only a 3 star read for me. But hey, that’s 1 book out of 22 read, it’s a start!

Wranglestone – The cover of this book is what drew me in initially, but it sounds so good!

Cinderella is Dead – Again, this was another book club read that I intended on reading…but didn’t even start. I’ve heard mixed reviews for this one as well, but I think it’ll be one I’ll enjoy.

Legendborn – This book has been on my shelf since December 2020, it’s about time I picked it up. This sounds like an excellent book and I want to see what everyone is talking about with this book, as everyone has been raving about it!

Mina and the Undead – This book was on a tbr for October I think, as it’s spooky, but again I didn’t start it. Here’s hoping 2022 is the year!

The Colour of Magic – I want to start reading the Discworld series finally. I’ve read one or two in the past, but I want to start from the beginning and read all of them, not all this year probably haha!

Hidden Gifts – This sounds so good!! I picked this up after seeing a few people talking about it on Twitter or Instagram, and it sounds wonderful.

Take Me Home Tonight – I love Morgan Matson’s other books and normally read them really quickly, but I’ve still not picked this one up for some reason. I think this is going to be a perfect summery read, as I’ve found all of Morgan Matson’s previous books to be.

The Dragon Republic – I buddy read The Poppy War with a friend on Instagram recently and absolutely loved it. I immediately ordered books 2 and 3 before even finishing The Poppy War and I’m excited to read them both this year.

Dangerous Remedy – I saw Beth from Booksnest talking about this one and it made me intrigued enough that when I saw a copy in a bookshop, I picked it up straight away. This sounds like a great book/series, I’m looking forward to it!

The Hawthorne Legacy – I really enjoyed the first book in this series last year, and even though I thought it ended quite nicely, I’m intrigued to see where this story can go in the sequel.

So there we have it. 22, books I want to read this year. Will I get to them all this year? Who knows, but I can tell you that these are all books I’m excited about, as you can probably tell!

What books are you hoping to read this year? Are there any books in my list I should read soon? Let me know!

  1. I’ve been meaning to start the Discworld series for a few years and have never got round to it. It’s so vast and full of different sets of stories that I don’t know whether to just start from the beginning or find the individual series that I know I will like and which will draw me into the world.

      1. I personally really like the Witchers books, and the Watch is also really fun! The thing about Discworld is that there are a few interconnected but mostly standalone series within the world, so it’s probably best to just try a few and see which characters are your favourite!

      2. And also in general, I thought that the earlier books were a collection of jokes rather than a more cohesive story, so for me, I would start with a later book. If you’re open to YA, the Tiffany Aching series was my introduction to Discworld and I really enjoyed it!
